“Relationships are made in heaven”, sounds so cliché, doesn’t it?
We used to laugh at it as well. But little did we know that destiny was going to play the same game with us.Things we never even remotely thought of happening suddenly happened some day. These were the moments which changed our lives forever and what we are now left with is an incredible ,crazy and legendary story to tell our kids.
Lets start in 2010, when we were colleagues, working in WOI, not being bothered about anything to do with each other. Romancing each other was never really a part of our plan.We started with a boring conversation at work, a technical conversation!. We wonder sometimes what would have happened if we were not working on that same project. However this boring conversation turned into quick greeting exchange at work, a ping on gmail and texts while on our way back home.
All of a sudden we were going on drives, watching movies, catching up for drinks, having late night conversations and before we knew it, there was a bond of friendship which neither of us could explain. It seemed like we were lost friends who were reunited.
They say – Only once in your life, you find someone who can completely turn your world around. You tell them things that you’ve never shared with anyone, and they understand without you giving an hour long explanation. You share hopes for the future, dreams that will never come true, goals that were never achieved and the many disappointments life has thrown at you. When something wonderful happens, you can’t wait to tell them about it, knowing they will double your excitement. They are not embarrassed to cry with you when you are hurt or laugh with you when you make a fool of yourself. Never do they hurt your feelings or make you feel like you are not good enough, but rather they build you up and show you the things about yourself that make you special and even beautiful. There is never any pressure, jealousy or competition but only a fuzzy comfortable feeling when they are around. You can be yourself and not worry about what they will think of you because they love you for who you are. The things that seem insignificant and stupid to most people such as a simple note, special song or even a short walk become invaluable treasures kept safe in your heart to cherish forever.
Both of us had found that “Someone” in each other!
And we definitely did not realise this until we found ourselves indulged into a dalliance, with a mutual “I like you” – wanting never to leave each other.
Things were on track…..until there was a twist to the story!
Saurabh was planning to move to Sydney for good. We were now in a dilemma, to either decide to commit and be together or part our ways. Absence makes the heart grow fonder, but it can also make it go yonder. Committing for a long distance was a tough decision, but we knew for sure that if there was anyone with whom we would ever want to try a long distance relation, it was definitely with each other. So one fine day, or rather night when all our friends and colleagues were busy enjoying the work picnic , Saurabh took the bold step. Fearlessly he walked to Sonal’s room and said “Lets give this long distance a shot”. Without further ado we took the plunge and that’s how we officially started our relationship.
We had now entered the club of long distance relationship. Thanks to the tools and technology, communicating on a daily basis was never a problem. It allowed us to be far yet close. Long distance is not the best thing that can happen to someone, but we guess no great love ever succeeded without a great struggle!
14 months!!!, yes 14 #$*&)(@ months passed till we saw each other again. We will always be short of words to express the feelings which we had then at the airport.
We knew we couldn’t live like this forever. We had to end it soon. It was then that we decided that we should take our relation to the next level. We spoke to our parents and after a bit of convincing they agreed. Saurabh had to leave again soon, but this time the relationship was more clear and stronger than ever.
After struggling for two and a half years of long distance we are now preparing to tie the knot on 21st February 2015! We would finally be normal again and would be starting our new lives with each other.
The countdown has begun….
(And we cant wait for it to get over!!)
(PS : So few and low quality pictures of us together on this website is a testimony of our long distance.)
